RUTHH / SERVICES

Custom Shopify
apps.

When an existing app cannot support the way your business works, custom development can close a specific gap. We turn operational requirements into Shopify apps and integrations with clear boundaries, usable interfaces and an explicit maintenance plan.

DISCUSS YOUR PROJECT
01 / WHAT WE DELIVER

Software shaped around a defined need.

Requirements and solution architecture

We map the people, systems and data involved in the workflow. The output defines what the app should do, where it should live, which Shopify capabilities it depends on and what an existing product could already solve.

App interfaces and business logic

We develop the screens and workflows needed by your team, alongside the rules that drive them. Depending on scope, this may include an admin interface, a storefront interaction or an extension supported by the store’s plan and Shopify’s current capabilities.

Data flows and system connections

We plan API access, webhooks and connections to services such as ERP, fulfillment or CRM tools. Permissions, validation, retries, duplicate events and reconciliation are part of the design rather than assumptions left until launch.

Testing, documentation and ownership

The delivery plan includes representative test scenarios, configuration notes and an agreed handover. Hosting, monitoring, source-code access, support responsibilities and future platform updates are documented as part of the project agreement.

02 / BUSINESS BENEFITS

Less repetitive work. Clearer system boundaries.

Address the workflow that slows your team down

A focused app can connect steps that currently rely on manual re-entry or disconnected tools. We identify where automation is appropriate and where a human decision should remain visible.

Understand what you are taking on

Custom software comes with hosting, maintenance and operational responsibilities. An explicit scope and ownership model help you compare the value of a custom build with the cost of adopting an existing app.

We assess whether configuration, Shopify Flow or an existing app could meet the need before proposing new software. API permissions, protected customer data, checkout capabilities and distribution requirements must be checked for the specific implementation. A custom project does not imply Shopify App Store approval.

03 / OUR PROCESS

Define the workflow before building the app.

01

Map the problem

Document the current workflow, sample data, users and failure cases. Agree what the app must change and what remains outside its responsibility.

02

Validate the approach

Confirm platform capabilities, access requirements, dependencies and the distribution model. Where an integration is uncertain, a focused technical investigation can reduce the unknowns.

03

Build in iterations

Deliver the agreed workflow in reviewable stages. Test representative records, permissions, retries and error states with your team in an appropriate test environment.

04

Release and maintain

Coordinate configuration and rollout, establish monitoring and document recovery steps. Agree support coverage and how future API or business changes will be handled.

04 / FAQ

Questions that shape the scope.

When is a custom app worth considering?

When a defined business requirement cannot be met cleanly by existing products or configuration, and the expected value justifies ongoing maintenance. We assess that tradeoff before recommending a build.

Can you connect Shopify to our ERP or CRM?

Potentially. We first review both systems’ APIs, authentication, available data and operational limits. Access to documentation, sample records and a test environment helps establish what can be supported reliably.

Can you build checkout features?

Only within the extension points and capabilities available to the store and its plan. We verify current restrictions before committing to a feature and do not propose changes that bypass Shopify’s checkout rules.

How is customer data handled?

We identify the minimum data and permissions required, then define access controls, retention, deletion and logging appropriate to the project. Any required Shopify approvals and product-specific privacy disclosures must be addressed before production use.

Who hosts and maintains the app?

Hosting, account ownership, source-code access and support responsibilities are agreed before development. Ongoing maintenance is scoped explicitly, including platform API changes and third-party integration dependencies.

YOUR NEXT STEP

Start with the
workflow.

Describe the manual task, missing connection or store capability you want to improve. Include the systems involved and the people who will use the result.
